How should a swimsuit fit?

A swimsuit shouldn't just look good – it should also fit properly to give you support, comfort and confidence. But how do you know if a swimsuit is the perfect fit for you? Here's our best advice.

1. The swimsuit should fit snugly – but not tight

Your swimsuit should feel like an extra layer of skin: snug and supportive without being tight or cutting in. If it chafes at the shoulders, thighs, or under the arms, it's too small.

2. The shoulder straps must not fall down.

The straps should be firm and provide support for both the bust and upper body – without slipping down or leaving marks on the skin. Especially shaping swimsuits like ours have straps designed to balance support and comfort .

3. The bust must have support and shape

A good swimsuit should support your bust like a bra , so you get both lift and shape. At MAYAS you also get removable pads so you can adjust the support yourself.

4. It must not slide up the back

The swimsuit should cover your bottom without riding up or feeling too loose. If it moves too much, it could be a sign that it's too big or has a fit that doesn't match your body.

5. The stomach and waist should be shaped without squeezing

Shaping swimsuits in particular should shape the stomach and define the waist without feeling uncomfortable. You should be able to move freely, while the fabric is supportive and smooth.
